IMPACT

HELP US BRIDGE THE ACCESS TO JUSTICE GAP

Canada's justice system is failing low-income families during what is often described as the worst time in their lives. The system is too complex, too slow, and too expensive. 58-80% of people involved in a family law dispute have no choice but to self-represent. The FJC aims to bridge the family justice gap in Ontario. Whether you're a lawyer, student, law firm, or organization, there are meaningful ways to contribute.

High Need for Services

Approximately 40% of

marriages will end in divorce.

Exorbitant Costs

The cost of a two-day trial

is estimated to be over

$30,000 as of 2015.

Self-Representation

58-80% of Canadians involved

in a family law dispute

do not have a lawyer.

Each year, the Family Justice Centre...

Provides approximately 450 callers with targeted referrals

Holds approximately 150 summary legal advice meetings with clients

Drafts approximately 136 high quality

court documents

Trains approximately 15 law students in family law, trauma-informed lawyering, and anti-oppression

Receives approximately 1,620 views of its educational videos on

family law process
